Welcome to installment #7 on the wine quiz front.

Every time you learn something new about wine… it’s a good day. Now, with this quiz I may sound a little biased. Frankly I am a big fan of natural cork. Plus I love the “POP”.
However, if I can share with everyone a little bit of cork knowledge I will. Well, here we go with some interesting facts about natural corks translated into a quiz. Please read the answers since that is where we learn.

1. Which has the lowest carbon footprint, in other words which impacts the environment the least?

2. Natural cork is a product from?

3. How long does the average cork producing oak tree survive?

4. Which country is the largest producer of cork?

5. It has been said that the reason natural corks lost a great deal of the market share as a wine closure is because... ?

6. Who is credited with making cork the seal of choice for wine bottles?

7. What was the choice of closure for wine bottles in the mid 1600's and prior?

8. By today’s standards and measures what is the actual percentage of wines that are corked? (I will get questioned on this but bring it on).

9. How often can you peel the bark from an Oak tree for cork?

10. Why store your wine bottles on their sides?
