My Father’s Day Bucket list!

Posted by Craig Categories:

Now, for something a little different, yet not too serious this Father’s day. I decided to share with you my top 10 list of things to accomplish as a Dad. It’s not about gifts or money but about what will truly make me feel rich, alive and happy. If I can cross every item off my list before I leave this mortal coil, I will have felt  that I have done my job as a Dad and truly deserve that final sip of wine.

Here we go!

1. To walk my daughter down the aisle.

2. To spend a whole day in a boat fishing with my son. With no cell phones or computers. The best way to get a chance to talk cause he has nowhere to go.

Yes... the fishing is that good when you're not on a cell phone. My son and I May 24 weekend.

3. To be the first one my son or daughter have a glass of wine with. To teach them to respect the proper way to enjoy one of life’s simple pleasures.

4. To have them feel comfortable enough to be able to ask me for advice. At least until they are twelve because once they become a teenager they know everything!

5. To invest as much time as possible with them while they are young, so that they will want to spend time with me when I am old.

6. To unconditionally love them. Even when they take my oldest and best red wine from my cellar without asking.

7. To be a grandfather. Not only to enjoy my grandchildren but to simply spoil them rotten and to give them back. That will be my favorite job after retiring.

8. For my kids to feel enough respect to ask for my opinion on the matters of life. And not just what wine goes well with BBQ shrimp.

9. To golf with my son and his son. Three generations on the course is more fulfilling than the beverage afterwards.

10. To have successfully instilled in my children that life is a journey…not a destination.
And that “Life is an attitude…so have a good one!”

Cheers and Happy Fathers Day!
