The 7 Wine Regions of my Home!

I believe wine should be fun and not always taken so seriously.

So to make my wine consumption a little more exciting and adventurous, I created my very own little wine tour which I call the 7 Wine Regions of my home. Like so many of us out there who enjoy our wine, I don’t always have the luxury of being able to travel to far away destinations to enjoy a glass, so I let my imagination take me places that are a little closer to home and where I can enjoy my favourite wines for each destination.

When was the last time you traveled to a favourite Wine Region in your home with your favourite wine? For me…

My Back Deck Region is one of my favourite areas to visit and enjoy on a warm sunny day whilst sipping on a crisp Sauvignon Blanc and nibbling on goat’s cheese and crackers. It reminds me of the Loire in France and can be as calming as a flat lake or river. Truly a retreat for some.

In La Region du Mon Kitchen,I often enjoy a soft yet fruit forward Pinot Noir from Burgundy while cooking the days meal. I always cook with wine…and sometimes I even put it in the food. I find food always tastes more satisfying when we take the time to enjoy creating a delicious meal, paired with a wine for the process.

My Dining Room Region, known as the fanciful food region, is where I love to have a big Aussie Shiraz with my perfectly BBQ’d rib eye steak. A big red for a big dish, full of flavour and delight.

When I want a softer place to rest my derriere and the company appears to be somewhat civilized, I retire to the Region of the Living Roomto savour a well aged Italian Amarone on the good furniture where no spilling is allowed. If the party picks up, we head down south to the Rec Room Region (which I like to refer to as the R & R). It is in my basement where a younger and livelier Chilean Merlot is always fitting.

If I fancy watching the sun set over the horizon I will venture to the Region of the Frontal Porch. It is here that I tend to watch the Tuscany-like sunset over a glass of Chianti. When it comes time to retire to the Boudoir Region, nothing says ‘Amour’ like a bottle of French Champagne with my lovely wife.

I have pretty well covered every room in my home except one. And I definitely do not recommend the Lavatory Area, for this is not a designated region. Not only is it wine unfriendly, but the aromas have a tendency to be somewhat “off”.

Cheers & Keep wine fun!

Craig, you definitely out did yourself on this newsletter. Your Seven Wine Regions was thoroughly entertaining……and may I add I had a glass of French Cab in my hand when I read it. Keep up the good work!

I don’t discriminate against ANY ROOM in MY house! When the need arises and I have my wine in my hand….it goes with me!
