Wine Quiz #6

Posted by Craig Categories:

Back by popular demand here is the 6th quiz in our series. My apologies for not including it in the last newsletter but I appreciate your comments and compliments regarding our fun little learning sessions. As always, please read the answers since that is where the knowledge begins.

“Scores only matter if you’re keeping them”.

So take the quiz, don’t worry about your tally because if you learn one new thing about wine today…it’s a good day!

1. If you were enjoying a red Burgundy what grape varietal would most likely be used to make this wine?

2. In what year was the ‘blind tasting’ in France that literally put California on the map as a wine producing region of great quality?

3. What is ‘ullage’?

4. What is ‘bottle shock’?

5. In what country would you find the wine region Marlborough?

6. Which is a grape varietal?

7. Why would one decant their wine?

8. I am often asked; Why is it when I bring a bottle of wine to a dinner party it does not get opened?

9. What is ‘Corked’?

10. In which country would you find the wine region of Rioja?
